Altea Hostal

Pros: Wonderfully friendly place with a lovely courtyard area and well-equipped kitchen. Don Omar is a treasure, always helpful and cooks a delicious breakfast. The room was a good size, a ground floor room which had AC and a well-appointed bathroom. We enjoyed meeting other travellers and loved Santa Ana.

Cons: The sound proofing between rooms isn't great.

Pros: Great location, staff was incredible, and the overall value for money is as good as it gets

Cons: The upstairs room is very hot despite the two fans

Pros: Breakfast is really nice and the whole place is lovely. Rooms were comfy and it’s such a good price. Staff were 10/10 amazing

Cons: Rooms upstairs (we stayed in two different rooms with different bookings) were very hot, there are fans but some aircon would be great in those rooms in particular

Nice stay in Santa Ana with annoying door bell

Pros: We enjoyed our stay here. The hostel had available information about the attractions in the area and how to get there. For the hike to the Santa Ana volcano they offer an early breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to wash our laundry for a few dollars. Our shuttle left in the middle of the night, which wasn't a problem.

Cons: Unfortunately you have to ring the bell because the front door is always locked and the bell is quite loud. There were many comments before about the bell but we did not believe it. It honestly sounds like the alarm in jail when all doors are opened at once. So, yes it is really annoying and I do not understand why the hostel is not adapting. It could have been easily a 10-star-rating.

Perfect, relaxing stay

Pros: We loved the staff (shout out to Omar for all his help / advice with buses and activities, and general hospitality!), breakfast was great, lovely space to relax in. Easy walk into centre of town and some great nearby pupuserias too.

Pros: The staff is very attentive and helpful. Made breakfast, hold our bags, always on top! Free water & a nice kichen. Room is modest but what do you need more?

Good base in Santa Ana

Pros: Spacious, clean, has a big kitchen in the courtyard. The host is incredibly helpful and goes out of his way to ensure you have a good stay.

Cons: I had a single room and it got a bit too hot at times, would be good to have AC

Pros: The place is chill, very clean and breakfast is nice! Basically we like everything! Would like to shout out to Eric for the exceptional service :)
