Hotel Europa

Pros: Great location in terms of the bus to and from San Salvador. Shared spaces are lovely, rooms are a bit noisy from the nearby road.

Cons: Didn't find out dorms were also available until after I had already booked and paid.

Pros: We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom and AC — the AC was definitely necessary given how hot San Miguel is. The bathroom was a decent size, and the water pressure was just about acceptable, though there’s no hot water. The sink could have been cleaned more thoroughly. The pool table is barely usable, and the cues really need replacing. On the plus side, there’s a good-sized kitchen with plenty of equipment, and a water dispenser with both hot and cold water. Overall, the place is kept reasonably clean and tidy. However, because of the noise and my preference for being able to sleep in while on holiday, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Cons: Road noise is a real problem here. The slatted glass windows in the rooms do nothing to block the sound, which made it hard to get a good night’s sleep.

Very helpful staff! Chilled atmosphere

Pros: 10/10! Can’t recommend the Hotel Europa staff enough! I had an unexpected problem bringing my drone into Nicaragua while travelling, so therefore had to DHL ship it to forward to Hotel Europa. I spoke to the staff via WhatsApp and they were super accommodating and responded fast. We finally arrived to San Miguel after a long journey from Leon and it was the perfect place to recover. Big spaces, chilled atmosphere, comfy beds, air-conditioning, etc.

Pros: Booked 1 night and ended up staying for 4! The room was comfortable with aircon, there was coffee available in the morning and the pool table was great. We did 3 day trips from Europa, even tho it’s a bit out of town it’s a very cheap Uber to the bus terminal ($2). Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Big room. Nice facilities, good value for money. Nice place to hang out.

Cons: Staff that checked me in seemed like she was having a bad day. Pool table is great, shame about the cues (being picky here)

Good hostel in San Miguel

Pros: Very helpful staff and the location was good for everything that we needed. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Kitchen had everything you need and there's good WiFi all round. Pool table to play on and hammock space. Good information available and someone is always ready to help even by WhatsApp when we were out and about should you need it. All in all a good base to explore the area from.
