Favorite hostel in El Salvador

Pros: I was very curios about this hostel, after the very differing comments. And I have to say, both is correct somehow, but I loved it! The staff, especially Xenia, was one of the nicest persons I met in El Salvador! Also I met very nice people here. The place is very beautiful, a jungely paradise. I felt very comy in the place. Nice pool! Free drinking water & coffee in the morning. Felt very safe here. I also liked the village and the places nearby.

Cons: My only downside is the cleanliness. Sadly, it in fact wasnt clean. The beds were ok. I didnt have a problem for the time I stayed, and still the ups made it to one of the best hostels I stayed in El Salvador, but if you have a big problem with that I wouldnt recommend. No curtains at the beds. Although there are only fans and no mosquito nets, I didnt have a problem with this. The beach also wasnt very nice, but that seems to depend on the season. Very weird smell. But there were some really nice saltwater pools at the end of the beach. They are part of a resort, but there are ways to get in for free :). I think it depends on how you are if you lile it here, I totally recommend and will come back :)

Pros: Lovely family owned hostel. Equipped kitchen and nice pool area. Cold shower (typical in El Salvador). 2 mins walk to the beach. However is on a secluded road. Restaurants and cafes and everything basically ,you would need to take a bus to main town el tunco (12 mins), be in mind the buses stop around 6pm and then you can use uber. If you're looking for quiet and peace to chill down is definitely the place. The host was kind to let us stay after our check out bc of late transportation . Adorable cats around and Centipede curling on floors. Overall we enjoyed our staying and recommend:)

A little slice of paradise

Pros: This is like a little slice of paradise in the middle of the Salvadorean jungle. It's a few minutes walk to the beach, and a few minutes walk in the opposite direction to the main road where buses pass every 30 minutes or so towards La Libertad/El Tunco/Sunzal, or El Zonte in the opposite direciton. Xenia, the host, is simply delightful - so kind, and full of advice, and always ready for a friendly chat. The swimming pool looks like something out of a Bali catalogue - it's surrounded by palms and ferns. The beds are comfortable and have individual fans and there are, of course, hammocks! I spent a couple of afternoons in the lovely hammocks just chilling. They also have free coffee in the mornings :)

Cons: The location is gorgeous but it's on a street in a quiet neighborhood - if you are looking for the beach party lifestyle, this isn't it - make sure you get to the pupusa place, pizza shop or minimarket before 8 or 9pm, otherwise you might need to go to another town (like El Tunco or La Libertad) to find food/supplies. It's not a major issue - but just be aware of that. Also, bring mosquito repellent - although the hosts have mosquito coils for the rooms available too.

Can’t wait to come back!

Pros: Lovely, welcoming family who have built their own little paradise between palms and mango trees. Super comfortable beds., hammocks to chill and a gorgeous pool. Just a minute to the ocean with some delicious food spots around.

Cons: That I didn’t had more time ..

Pros: Family owned hostel in a quiet place close to El Zonte. Small street with local food leading to a nice and less crowded beach to relax. Beds are comfortable and lockers are big. Bathrooms are about to get renovated. The kitchen is well equipped. Make sure to bring enough cash.

Pros: Walking distance from the beach (200m), spacious room with a very good bed. Loved the structure and overview in the kitchen and Xenia and Mark were always up for a chat or help in case of questions. Hammocks everywhere (of course) were a big plus!

Best place to stay on the coast

Pros: Brilliant location 200m away from a gorgeous small beach where I swam every morning. There's a small shop and a few places to eat around there too. Xenia, Mark and their daughters are lovely and very welcoming. Nice hammocks to chill in. I found this area a far better alternative to El Tunco (too busy) and El Zonte (not busy enough)!
